Cinema for Peace Monthly Screenings
WE ARE HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT FROM APRIL 2012 ONWARDS WE WILL EXPAND OUR MONTHLY SCREENING SERIES TO FRANKFURT/MAIN WHERE WE WILL HOST FREE SCREENINGS AT ORFEO'S ERBEN.
Our Monthly Film Series was launched in May 2011 at the occasion of which we presented the documentary „Restrepo” (2010) in remembrance of war journalist & photographer Tim Hetherington who was killed in April 2011 while reporting from the fights in Misrata/Libya. Between May 2011 and March 2012 we have been holding two non-commercial film screenings in Berlin (CENTRAL-Kino) and Hamburg (Kino ABATON) each month. The screenings are followed by a Q&A session with experts on the respective issue.
The series constitutes the foundation’s commitment to fulfil the foundation's mission statement: Per its charter, the Cinema for Peace Foundation endeavours to further peace and understanding worldwide through the support of cinematographic works.
The main purpose of the Cinema for Peace Foundation is the involvement in the production and dissemination of films about the prevention of disease (e.g. AIDS), violence, ecocide, war, poverty and violation of human rights. In order to do so, such films are supported and made accessible through the foundation as widely as possible in an effort to raise awareness about these issues worldwide, both in the first world countries as well as in the afflicted countries.
