IRAN-WOMEN´S RIGHTS IN MUSLIM COUNTRIES

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

The Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani, a leading actress in Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies, has been banned from returning to Iran after the star actress posed nude for the French Magazine Madame Le Figaro earlier this week. Farahani has stated that she did the photo-shoot in protest of the strict cultural taboos regarding women and sexuality in Iran, and it is reportedly her defiant claim which elicited the banishment from authorities.

Farahami’s banishment allows for a chance to initiate a discussion of freedom of expression in Iran, as well as a wider discussion regarding women’s rights and the Muslim world.
