This Prison Where I Live

ZARGANAR is Burma’s most popular comedian who has received a prison sentence of 35 years for talking openly to foreign media against the government’s failure to aid the victims of Cyclone Nargis. Since more than 20 years Zarganar is one of the most active critics against the government. He was imprisoned and tortured several times and spent more than five years in solitary confinement.

Today, Zarganar is still in prison. In order to raise awareness on the oppressiveness of the Burmese military regime and to remember Zarganar we recommend you to watch the documentary “This Prison Where I Live” by Rex Bloomstein and Michael Mittermeier. The cooperation and the funding were initiated by the Cinema for Peace Foundation.
