Cinema for Peace June Monthly Screening of The 11th Hour

Cinema for Peace is delighted to announce a new city to our growing list of monthly screenings throughout Germany. Last month we gladly welcomed Frankfurt am Main to our list of cities, which now includes Berlin, Hamburg and Frankfurt.

We hope this means that soon there will be a Cinema for Peace screening coming to a city near you.

On the occasion of Rio+ 20 Sustainable Development conference taking place in June, our monthly screening this month looks at Leonardo DiCaprio's crucial film 11th Hour on the state of the environment and possible solutions to these pressing issues.

His film takes a look at the state of the global environment including visionary and practical solutions for restoring the planet's ecosystems.
The film will be shown in English original with German subtitles.

The [film] asks why these things are happening and apportions blame in varying degrees to governmental indifference tied to its allegiance to a corporate economy that is addicted to growth at any cost and perhaps, most insinuating of all, to the culture of consumerism. Thankfully for audiences, "11th Hour" is not without hope. The filmmakers save the most exhilarating portion for last when they ask what's being done about the problems. By mimicking nature's own blueprints, it is possible to create a system of living that heals rather than depletes the Earth.

—Kevin Crust, Los Angeles Times
