“Crude - The Real Price of Oil” by Joe Berlinger documents the extended legal struggle between Ecuadorian indigenous peoples and the multinational corporation Chevron. Dubbed the Amazon Chernobyl, the oil and toxic waste contamination of the Ecuadorian Amazon rain forest is devastating. Toxic chemicals have turned thousands of square miles of rain forest into a wasteland where nothing will grow, contaminated water supply and brought several tribes of indigenous people close to extinction, along with the regions unique flora and fauna. Some 30,000 indigenous residents of the region are seeking 27-million dollars in damages and reparation from Chevron for contamination.
