January Monthly Screenings: Congo - Looking for Hope in the Middle of Crisis

We turn our attention to a country that lives the worst crisis in the world: Congo. We will show "Crisis in Congo: Uncovering the Truth" by Friends of the Congo and the documentary "Pushing the Elephant" by Beth Davenport and Elizabeth Mandel.

"Crisis in Congo: Uncovering the Truth"

More than five million people of eastern Congo have been killed since the conflict began, making it the worst crisis area in the world. Analysts in the film examine whether U.S. corporate and government policies that support strongmen and prioritize profit over the people have contributed to and exacerbated the tragic instability in the heart of Africa.
