CINEMA FOR PEACE Special Evening on Africa, Sept. 19, 2010, New York

Following our successful "Special Evening on Justice" in Kampala in May, the CINEMA FOR PEACE Foundation will be hosting a "Special Evevening on Africa" on September 19, predating the very important UN MDG Summit in New York. The event will host a number of influential politician, such as His Excellency President Paul Kagame of Rwanda as key note speaker. Sir Bob Geldof will give the opening remarks. On this occasion, Naomi Campbell and Sharon Stone will also present the CINEMA FOR PEACE Award to two precious movies, that make an impact: "As we forgive" and "Themba". On this occasion, earlier on Sunday, we will also be screening these two eye-opening movies at the Tribeca Theatres: ‘THEMBA – A Boy Called Hope’ by Stefanie Sycholt follows a young boy’s hopes and aspirations against all obstacles, including the HIV infection of his mother and himself. The film will be screened at the Tribeca Cinemas this Sunday at 1.00pm ‘As We Forgive’ by Laura Waters Hinson: Could you forgive a person who murdered your family? This is the question faced in ‘As We Forgive’, a documentary about Rwandan women coming face-to-face with the men who slaughtered their families. The film will be screened at the Tribeca Cinemas this Sunday at 3.00pm Both films have been honoured with the CINEMA FOR PEACE Award for their exemplary commitment to promote human ideals and values through the medium film.
